Now I ask you: Is war justified?
« on: September 13, 2006, 12:45:00 pm »
What with all the posts I\'ve seen about war, since we\'ve all had a taste of the attack, do you people still think that war isn\'t justified?

of course war is justified. it is a basic part of what makes us human, and anyways, its good to lower some of this excess population. it even boosts the economy. war maybe horrible, but it is a neccesary check on human growth. war, like pestilence, cures hunger, overpopulation, and in some cases, excess polution. and judging from history it wont be leaving us any time soon (war, i mean).

Declaring war on who?
The responsible ppl?50 people did/organized the World Trade Center attack. So youre going to mobilize the biggest military machine to strike who?Delete Afganistan from the map? What about the inocent lives there?Afganistan has no goverment. It is led by the Taliban and suported by a milionaire called Bin Laden.
If you ask my humble opinion this should first be a police matter and then a military matter.

There are times for negotiating, and times for fighting. Since obviously our negotiating has failed, it\'s time to saddle up. People may not agree, but as tens of thousands of innocent American civillians lay buried in their jagged cement walled graves, having died a bloody, painful death, we must retalliate, and most of America will agree with me when I say, that nothing will comfort us, nothing will soothe our gaping open wounds more than a counter-attack on the very people that attacked us.

\"As long as mankind exists in this world, there will always be battles.\" - Trieze Khushrenada

It is true that there is no alternative to the current crisis. War is inevitable. But the current path is not known as self-defense. It is known as a counterstrike. Self-defense isn\'t fighting on foreign soil. Regardless of who the protagonist is, attacking on the opposing force\'s land is not self-defense. Self-defense would have been shooting those planes had they been identified as hijacked over our territory. That is self-defense, not an invasion on opposing territory.

War may not be justified, but it is natural.

I posted this in another thread:

I don\'t think that anyone seriously wants to see WW-III take place, but they do want the guilty party to be punished. This is required to uphold our country\'s aspect of liberty and freedom. If war is needed to achieve this, that unfortunatly is what it must come to. Nobody wants more innocent people to die, but unfortunatly, sometimes the death of innocent people is a side effect of fighting for a greater cause.

If the United States does not retaliate what are we supposed to do? Do you believe that the terrorists will stop if we do nothing? You must have heard anti-US supporters on the news saying that they will not rest until America is destroyed. These people will continue to terrorize the US and the world if something is not done. We would all be happy to live in peace, but we will have no peace until something is done. It is unfortunate, but sometimes the only way to achieve peace is to prepare for war.

I just rememebred that I had more. Saying that nothing will soothe wounds more is to go to war.

\"The young do not understand, that in war, there is death!\" Londo Mollari, Babylon 5

This will only open the wound, but there is no viable alternative. I stated that before that war is inevitable. Self-defense is not what this is called. It is retaliation.

life in my shell, your logic regarding excess population could be used to support the wtc attacks, too--they were just as \"necessary.\"

War is never justified unless there\'s an immediate, clear, and present danger to the civillians. Then it\'s self defense, not war.

War is never justified.

oh, you silly bleeding heart liberals can live inside your little sheltered lives and say \"ooooh, war is bad... lets all kiss eachother and then we can dance around the giant candy cane forest, and frolick to the lake of chocolate... tee hee!\" but this world is a cesspool. a hellhole filled with hate, violence, sodomy, and fanatic \"godliness\". an infernal place whose only cure can be the utter destruction of the humans who live there. make no mistake that the forces of evil in this world far exceed the forces of good. war is never justified, but it is neccesary. and as for what oswald says, i really cant say i feel anything for the dead anymore, so i can indeed say that it is my belief that those that died in wtc died for a reason. that reason, i will never understand.
